Of course, with a blank slate ,you need to bring in everything to transform it from social hall to an acceptable rager of a mitzvah. Since Ella struck as a sophisticated, worldly and smart sort of girl we didn't want to go too girly, too Parisian, too pink. We wanted bright and fun and a realistic Paris market sort of feel.
From Ella's Patisserie in a faux storefront to her Bonbon (sweets) candy favor shop to the Love Lock bridge escort cards, every detail was meant to bring Paris alive in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Bold black and white stripe tablecloths topped with whimsical umbrellas and giant balloons set the backdrop for what turned out to be a summer night full of fun. Evan from No Macarena kept the music relaxed for dinner then cranked up a little for dancing. The crowd of giggling girls went crazy with our favorite part of the party, our friend Pearl the Mime. She entertained the crowd all night with her statues, miming and overall awesomeness.
Dinner was provided by Sage Catering and knocked everyone's socks off with a custom Crepe Station, a Steak & Pomme Frites station and a Mashed Potato bar with delicious yet customary French toppings. All of the guests walked away with a bag full of fun candy plus a caricature of themselves from Courtney's Caricatures. If I ever wanted to be a 13 year old girl again, it would definitely be just to go to this party!
