It’s time for a confession. Up until about a month ago, the idea of *our wedding* had really only existed in theory. My fiancé and I have been engaged for two whole years and in that period, we never once visited a venue, started the real research, and we barely had a semblance of a guest list. The reasons for the delay vary, and really aren’t all that important, because on September 8th, 2014 exactly 2 years from the date of our engagement, we made the decision that we were going to begin planning.
You guys, I am officially planning a wedding. Cue the squealing (and let’s be honest, the sweating).
Not exactly knowing how to start, it has been an interesting month to say the least. I started with
a ridiculously long list of venues, gathered from my research and a few Facebook crowd sourcing posts. We narrowed the list based on certain criteria (location, the ability to BYO booze, handicapped accessibility,) visited a few places, met with caterers, and we are inches away from finally booking that elusive date. A date! Finally, we’ll have the answer to the question I’ve answered (and sometimes avoided) for the past two years. Soon enough, we will finally have one.
So far, I am encouraged at how the process has gone. Knowing full well that the next 14 months or so will be a mixture of excitement and stress, with some extreme highs and lows, and possibly a breakdown or two – I am ready. Armed with lists, spreadsheets, Pinterest (obvi), and this book, I am hardly able to sleep at night as my mind races with all kinds of details! Look for updates, trials, tribulations, and hopefully some sneak peeks!
